Hey all!
I know it's been an excruciatingly long while since I've updated/posted any entries and artwork. Ever since my Junior year of high school started, I've been swamped with AP homework. It wasn't necessarily a surprise, though. However, I've been focusing more towards my growth with my graphic designs by taking Graphics I at my school. It's different since I've been self-taught for approximately six years now but I've been managing, especially having the upper-hand with my previous knowledge. The only downside is that the majority of my class is populated with seniors who don't take a true interest in design and signed up for the class to solely get their art and computer credits. Luckily, we're working on animation this semester as well as being introduced to Adobe Illustrator, a program that I have not yet used but I've yearned to learn it.
In other news, I was recently brought onto a game development team, being placed in the graphics department! I was recommended by the head of Sales and Marketing since she's been browsing my artwork and designs via Facebook and Tumblr. After an interview with the CEO, he emailed me that I've been accepted onto the team! This entire process works out incredibly well knowing the fact that the majority of my team members are apart of my school. Though I'm the only Junior of nineteen other Seniors, they welcomed me warmly.
Because of this new job opportunity, I've been working on concept art for our game. It's a bit challenging for me and some of the members of our graphics department since we mainly use references for our drawings. This whole experience has been helping me as an artist, though, since I've been watching and reading a vast range of tutorials in order to help me along the way. I've been inspired by many of the artists on this site and their work has helped me motivate myself to strive towards being a great artist.
If you're interested in our game, go to Area481 and check it out yourself!
Hope you all are having a fantastic New Year!
- Jenny
